I have been reading a bit now a days about integrating multiple
technologies and wanted to share some useful information which
I have with you all.
Work on Java Business Integration has been happening for some
time now and JSR 208 is an effort towards that. You can find and
download the specification at JCP 208 site.
Industry leaders including Sun Microsystems, Apache Software
Foundation, SAP AG and Vignette are few of big names who are part of
this soecification.
"The goal of the Java Business Integration initiative is to do
for the integration space what J2EE did for the field of Java
application development and deployment; namely, deliver the benefits
of choice, flexibility, interoperability, code reuse, reduced
complexity, and lower cost", said Mark Bauhaus, vice president of
Java, Web Services at Sun.
JBI(Java Business Integration) defines a unified, pluggable
architecture for building integration technology on the Java
platform and specifies standard interfaces for integration
components like BPEL engines, transformation engines, or routing
engines, to be plugged seamlessly into an integration container. JBI
gives customers the ability to assemble a best-of-breed solution, or
to extend their integration solutions by adding new integration
components. The high level of flexibility, choice, and extensibility
in JBI will lead to more robust integration solutions with reduced
vendor lock-in, and lower costs. Additionally, by building upon Java
standards, JSR 208 allows developers to leverage their Java and J2EE
development skills, to reduce the time and effort required to solve
complex integration problems.
SAP has been trying to attract Java/J2EE developers to its
application platforms by bringing better reliability and easier
business integration tools to its NetWeaver and J2EE application
server .
SAP unveiled a Master Data Management component for NetWeaver,
which will make it easier for Java/J2EE developers to deliver
integration and web services projects across multiple Java and
non-Java platforms.
SAP recently unveiled to some 1,000 developer/architects a
prototype of new 'business intelligence' (BI) technologies for
NetWeaver which could speed searches across multiple platforms
(databases, app servers, web servers) by 10 to up as 1,000 times
over traditional query techniques. searching inventory and/or
financial data across different systems.
Should we concentrate on understanding SAP and its relevance to
Java world and whether we should learn the integration points
between them is left for our taste buds to decide. unless it tickles
my taste buds( Both money buds and interest buds) I will be an
outsider looking seriously at this area.
If you guys have any information on this do let me know @ admin@j2eequestions.com.
